Passive Income Idea: 📚➡💵 Collect Book Royalties!

Hello everyone. This is a passive income source idea where you need no money to start.

Write a book. Publish it completely free and collect royalties on each sale.

I don’t work for KDP or Amazon. They are not paying me to say this. I am just sharing with you what I did and do and my experience.

 

1- Write the Book

    I had a dream to write a book but never wrote it because it used to be expensive to publish, and had to put it on store bookshelves, used to be too much work. But not anymore. Now we have eBooks. Using KDP you can publish your book for free. It creates options: You can sell the online version of your book. Sell the paper back version of the book, and you may enroll in audio book. You write one book and will have 3 products to sale.


2- Book Size 

    The book does not need to be gigantic. KDP actually prefers you to sale the book between $2.99 to $9.99. If you are at this range of sale you qualify for 70% Royalties. You can add other values but then, you qualify for 35% royalty only. If you have a lot of content to write it might be better to write a 3 book series. So you can capitalize on the 70% royalties. The paperback book version cost a few bucks more to the buyers for ink, paper, printing cost and delivery.  

 

3- KDP Stands for Kindle Direct Publishing

    KDP is owned by Amazon. Offer eBooks that can be viewed on Kindle devices, phones, tablets, and computers. Every year more people read eBooks. While I don’t know if “Concrete Buildings” that sale books will ever die. Daily more and more “Building Stores” lose costumers to online sales.

 

4- Why Use KDP? 

    I chose KDP because it is a huge platform. Reaching millions of people. It is super easy to use the platform. There are lots of recourses. You choose the price of your book. You retain ownership of the content. There is no cost. The only cost is the electricity your computer use, and if you choose paid advertising. That is optional.

 

5- Find Your Niche 

    If you are passionate about a topic; then that is the the best. And if you are an expert on that topic even better. When somebody buys your book depending on how useful your content is; “who is helping who?!”. The more value your content has, the happier the reader will be. And more thankful for what they learned or the experience they had. You may also write, fiction, or entertainment. And for somebody not too creative or with no expertise, or whatever reason, you can read 3 books on a subject and then create your own content with your own twist and input. 

6- Increasing Sales

    To maximize sales you can do Amazon key words searching and find out which topics sale most. While everything sales; Fiction, spirituality, religion, memoirs, business, money, self-help, cook books, wine, politics, fitness, diet and others score well.

 

7- Once You Wrote the Book Download Kindle Create

    I write on Microsoft Word. After your book is written Download Kindle Create. Upload the book document to Kindle Create, and Kindle Create will convert your Word document into KDP eBook format so it can be read in all platforms. After you have the book format file on your PC you will upload it to KDP online. The process is easy, and KDP provide guides.  

 

8- Create a Title and a Cover Page

    It’s best to use your own software to make your book cover page. But you can use KDP software to make your cover page. For my first book I used KDP to make my page. My second book I used another free software (in the cloud. No download required) and uploaded my cover page to KDP. And for the 3rd book I launched I created the cover-page myself, and uploaded it to KDP and tweaked it a bit with KDP software.

    If you do not have an account with Amazon yet you will need to set up an amazon KDP account.

 

9- Choose 2 Niches for Your Book on KDP

    Once your eBook, and cover is Uploaded. KDP will ask you which niches your book is about. You can choose 2 niches for the book. That way KDP shows your eBook to the right people. 

10- Achieve All Your Dreams

    If you had a dream to write a book. Now you can do it for free. No costs related to publishing and printing. KDP will only print your book once it is sold.

    More books you sale more money you make.

    You have to promote it. The more you promote the better. There are many promoting ideas. While you can pay for promoting I personally have not paid to promote. I use free promoting options only like:

a) Send an email list to family, friends, and contacts. 

b) If you have a webpage add the link there. 

c) Put it on your social media. 

d) You may have other promoting ideas regarding the places you frequent, and the people you have connections with.

e) KDP also can promote your book for you for free for 5 days once every 3 months:

    You can sell your book at a discount during the KDP promotion. 

    Or you can make it free to get more people buying/downloading, and talking about your book. I use KDP free promotion and make it free. That way it boosts book sales and we still collect about 1 penny for every page a person read of your book. This happens if you enroll your book on the KDP program and people who have KDP unlimited pay a monthly or yearly fee and get access to all KDP enrolled books for free. 

f) The better your launch is the better chances KDP will show your book to buyers, and higher your book appear on searches. The successful launch tells KDP that every time they show your book you and KDP will make a sale!

g) You may also write a new book to boost sales of your previous books. If somebody likes your book they may come back and buy your other book. Also if you decide to write a second book you can apply all you learned in the process of writing the first book and make the second book a better book.

While not most top, rich people, but ALL people on the top have at least 7 income sources. A job is great, important, and there is nothing wrong with it.
